Utah is a beautiful but desolate landscape surrounding greater Salt Lake City, where 80% of its people live. Consequently most travel nurses accepting assignments from Medical Travelers Inc. have gone to Salt Lake, although some have chosen hospitals in the smaller towns, such as Logan, Ogden, Provo, Bountiful, and Tooele. More than half the residents of Utah are Mormons, but they have been very accepting of non-Mormon travel nurses, and the pay is good. The mountains and rivers in the southern half are very scenic, providing pleasant side-trips. Utah’s modern ski areas rank with the world’s best. Visitors enjoy the Sundance cultural offerings, the Peaks Ice Arena (home to the 2002 Winter Olympics), and fly fishing on the Provo River, but there are many lesser-known attractions. Stop at the Frontier Movie Town, the Dinosaur Park, Gravity Hill, or the Doomed Resort for something different.
